Four Colours of Fun

What a gorgeous group of ladies to have in my studio on Sunday.  Huge thanks to everyone for coming along and special thanks to Kerry and Betty who came all the way down from Kalbarri for the morning - you're all awesome.

...and what did we get up to I hear you ask - loads of yummy fun.  What a sensational workshop - lots of oohhhhs and aaaaahhhhhs to be heard - it was quite funny actually.  We took 4 colours (light, dark, light and dark), created texture and sliced our life away.

Let's check out some of the pics.

Harley and Lanlach - The Story Continues

I thought I would share a few more pics of the "scenes" we're creating for Harley and Lanlach.  We got our order mixed up a bit so had to shoot pics of the second scene before the first - all a bit confusing - best to just get to the pics.

The proposal.

Meet baby Ajax.  He's going to be playing in a sandpit so we just created a head and then a part of his body.

The second scene - their "house".  Rachel did an incredible job on this one.

Rachel making pixie sticks.

Baby Ajax in his egg.

This is my pic of the second scene.  Rachel has done a much better job than me.  Check out the pic of Baby Ajax's egg on the wall.  Rachel has every detail covered.

Gorgeous Rachel!!

This is Gippy's corner of the room.

Uh-oh Gippy's done a poop on the monster skin rug!!

Rachel Weaves Her Magic.........

Rachel and I met again on the weekend and worked on the next step in our "art-nership" project.  This is the first "scene" drawn by Rachel and designed by us both.  Love, love, love it.  We set everything up Rachel took lots and lots of pics that she's going to work her magic on.  Can't wait to see the final product.

Adding the "alien" sand.

Props for the "Art-Nership"

Rachel and I had fun in the studio last weekend creating props for the next stage in the collaborative artwork or "Art-nership".  Here's a sneak pic at some of the things we created.  Hmmmmmm wonder what these are going to be used for????????

Teeny tiny ring.  Engagement ring perhaps??

Yum - UCI arvo tea.

Whaaat???

uh-oh what on earth!! (we have such a warped sense of humour!!)

More fun things - you'll see.

Can't wait to see how the next part of the project turns out.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Pia Boschetti from Latitude Gallery (high end jewellery shop and gallery) in Geraldton, came up with a sensational concept a couple of years ago to do something with the abundance of rubbish that is found on our local beaches and islands.  She took her boat and a team of helpers to the Abrolhos Islands and collected rubbish (in conjunction with Clean Up Australia) from the beaches - a huge boat load full of rubbish.  The rubbish was then unloaded onto the wharf in Geraldton and community members asked to come and take what they wanted.  An original artwork is then to be created consisting of at least one item they collected from the wharf.

I went along and collected quite a large quantity of "rubbish" or treasure as I called it!!   I had my homeschool kids coming and thought it would be fantastic for them to create an artwork to enter.

Have a look and see what happened.

This is a portion of some of the flotsam and jetsam.  You should have seen the looks on the kids faces when I told them what we were going to do!!!!  They couldn't quite believe we were going to use this rubbish to make something - priceless.

The more we worked the more they got into it and understood the concept.

We had to work out how we would put things together and how we could interpret each piece.

We had a pretty messy studio but what fun!!

Sneak snippets of what we were working on.  I loved the thongs but no-one used them!!  I might have to.

A "teaser" of a finished piece.  Can't show you of course as it's going into the exhibition.

An another "teaser" pic.

This was my entry from two years ago.  Absolutely loved "playing" with the kids on this project - and now they have some awesome entried for the Kids Section of the exhibition.  Can't wait to see everything finished.
